What’s so awesome about 515 Brewing?
We are a little brewery/taproom operating out of Clive, Iowa, a suburb of Des Moines. We are not a very large brewery, only seven barrels. But in 2016, we won a Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal for our agave lime wheat beer, Mexican Spring, and in 2017, we were the only Iowa brewery to win a gold medal, for our Belgian Quad called #quadgoals.
What’s new or upcoming for you in 2018?
We celebrated our 5th anniversary in 2018. A lot has changed since the early years of brewing in garages, but the commitment to quality hasn’t and won’t.
What’s so awesome about the Des Moines area beer scene?
In five years, we’ve seen the average consumer go from one that needed help and explanation to one that is extremely knowledgeable and seeks out craft over mass produced out of state beer. We’ve seen the market place grow and expand in ways that honestly no one expected and as a whole the craft community has stayed relatively united. It fills us with pride to be part of this community and want to be there for the next five years and many more beyond that.
